I approach mental health through several different perspectives. The first is through Somatic Psychology, which is holistic, present-centered, and focuses on the connection and interactions of verbal and nonverbal processes. I utilize mind-body techniques to help clients become more aware of their belief systems and body-based sensations, to develop acceptance and appreciation for their strengths and challenges, and to create opportunities for healing and growth. Over the years I have incorporated complimentary approaches including CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, Gestalt Therapy, Art Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Attachment Theory, Creative Systems Theory, and Exposure Therapy.
I have 14+ years experience working with clients of all ages in various settings including schools, in-home therapy, community clinics, hospitals, and residential treatment. I currently specialize working with children with anxiety, or who exhibit behavioral and other mood challenges; teens with anxiety and/or depression, and with adults experiencing difficulty due to anxiety, anger, depression, life transitions, relationships and intimacy, and chronic body-based issues. I also work closely with parents and offer co-parenting support and guidance.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Dance Movement Therapist. My MA is in Somatic Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Body Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy. My BA is in Contemplative Psychology. I have additional certificates in Neurofeedback, CBT, and DBT. I am also a practice co-manager and director of the Tyngsboro office.
